Visible/Hide Status

Considerations

It can be beneficial to maintain records for accounts, even after those accounts are no longer active. In GainsKeeper, it is sometimes necessary to keep records for a closed account to maintain links between transferred shares. While it is useful and sometimes necessary to maintain these records, it is not always useful and necessary to view them when tracking your current portfolio. GainsKeeper provides a Visible/Hide status to enable you to maintain all historical information, while only viewing current active information.

Visible

The default status of your accounts is "Visible". This means that this account is an active account and it is displayed on the Overview page and the Report pages.

Hidden

If you close a brokerage account and transfer holdings from it into a new account, mark the account as "Hidden" in GainsKeeper. Once the account is marked as "Hidden," it will not display on the Overview page, but it will still display in system generated reports. GainsKeeper does not delete any of the trades previously entered into hidden accounts.
