Minneapolis - 11/13/06
Wolters Kluwer Financial Services today announced that its cost basis calculator, BasisPro™, will be included in several TurboTax® products beginning in December.
Offered by GainsKeeper, a part of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, BasisPro easily and automatically calculates historical cost basis. By handling cost basis information for mutual funds and all equities traded on any U.S. stock exchange, BasisPro calculates a security's cost basis in a matter of seconds by processing its sell information and original purchase date. BasisPro uses rich data on corporate actions, as well as sophisticated business rules, to accurately determine a stock's cost basis.
"By including BasisPro in TurboTax for 2006, we're able to vastly simplify a complex task for our customers," said Dan Maurer, vice president of marketing for the Consumer Tax division of Intuit. "Being able to easily and accurately determine the cost basis of an investment gives our customers confidence they're getting the best possible outcome."
"With its automated process and complete historical database, BasisPro provides investors with a highly-sophisticated tool," said David Stephens, executive vice president of the Securities and Insurance unit at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services. "This is particularly valuable for the millions of taxpayers who turn to TurboTax for expert guidance on handling more complex tax-related investments."
